Ghost Hunters Bug or a time zone lock?

Well, for some reason the Panic Button sticker seems to be broken. After multiple check-ins since the start of the Ghost Hunters Live event over TWO HOURS ago, it has yet to pop for my account. Some people (myself included) have speculated that it's a time zone lock, but it makes no sense that a sticker tied to a live event would be time zone locked. GetGlue should have known that this would be a HUGE night for Ghost Hunters check-ins and thus far they're letting a lot of us down. Here's hoping that if it's a bug it gets fixed soon, and if it's a lock then they pull their heads out of the sand and realize that it's a stupid idea to lock down something that has a specific start time and run time.

Full Sticker FAQ updated

I've completed the edits on the Full Sticker FAQ page and have it current as of 30 October, 2010. All currently available stickers are listed in their appropriate sections. For the time being the addition of images to the full FAQ is on hold and may not happen. The images you see of the stickers on the main blog page are the smallest I can make them without having to manually resize them. Given that there are currently over 400 stickers that are in existence, that's a project that is going to take a good long while to complete. In the meantime, if you want to see pics of almost every sticker out there I suggest you head over to GetGlue and check out Flint or Matt Nelson's sticker pages - they're currently on the top of the leader-board for the title of "owner of the the most stickers."

Sticker Reminders for the Halloween weekend

The end of October cometh; with a nip in the air and ghouls and ghosts running around on Sunday night you're bound to be busy passing out the treats to the little monsters or freaking out the mundanes as you head for a party in full costume. While all of that may keep you more than occupied, don't forget to break out your smartphone or make a few side trips to your PC and check-in to the latest round of shows!

A big thanks to all my readers!

I wanted to take a time out from sticker hunting to say a big thank you to all my readers out there who check the site religiously for updates. The tips, hints, and pointers you send me help make this site what it is. I hope you all find it useful in your quest for increasing your sticker collection!  I also want to say a HUGE thanks to the sticker-hunting leaders out there on GetGlue - without you guys leading the way, the rest of us would be flailing in the dark on a lot of the oddball stickers out there.

On a side note, I realize the FAQ is a bit behind. Things have been a bit hectic for me in the last couple weeks at work and I haven't been able to give the full FAQ the attention it deserves. I should have some free time this weekend to get things added in and get the FAQ up to the current level of stickers. I may even start adding in images! Hopefully I'll be able to get this completed before the mass of check-ins that are going to be happening on Sunday, because I'm going to need all the free time I can get to make sure I hit all the Halloween check-ins that are on the calendar!

Teasers Galore on the GetGlue Blog!

What a night it was last night! As fellow sticker-hunters know a boatload of stickers went live yesterday and were officially announced on GetGlue's blog this morning.  We have the following:

ESPN

As part of the promotion for E:60, we have five new stickers!  The first three are standard one-, five-, and 15-check stickers. The last two, "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" and "E:60 Overtime", have unknown requirements. Rest assured that I'll be posting up on these sports themed stickers and will bring you the highlights of how to earn them as soon as they're found!


USA

We've been blessed with fifteen stickers from USA Network, centered around four shows and the network itself. So far all of them except the fall premiere ones for Psych and Burn Notice are available. These last two should drop on November 10 and 11, respectively, with the fall premieres of the shows. The dates are saved on the calendar, so be sure to check-in!

SyFy

Last, and certainly not least, we have a four-pack of Ghost Hunters goodness from the SyFy network. The second one from the left is the trailer sticker, which has already been mentioned here. The other three look to be the standard show check-in, the "panic button" check-in, and the Up Late check-in that looks to be earned for hitting a check-in towards the end of the show (at 1 AM!)  Be prepared to stay up late to earn this one, in addition to all the other Halloween-night check-ins for the other shows on the calendar. It's going to be a busy Sunday!

Sounds pretty straightforward, right?  For the Panic Button sticker you need to check-in during the show with the phrase "panic button". For the other one, just check in during the last hour of the show. Looks like we're staying up late on Sunday!

GetGlue Vocabulary Time!

Some terms you should know:

Sticker Hunter - someone who plays the game within the game at GetGlue and tries to amass as many stickers as they possibly can.  If you're reading this blog, you probably qualify!*

Stick-Tease - the act of GetGlue hinting at the availability of a sticker and then not making it available. (See Jonah Hex, Sex & The City 2, Jack Sparrow, and Don't Steal Me Stickers)

Sticker Blue-Balls - the condition of having met the requirements for earning a sticker but not receiving it. Typically seen on the days that a lot of stickers are released as the server glitches start cropping up.*

Gluebie - someone who is new to GetGlue (and typically doesn't have a lot of stickers or is missing show premiere stickers.)*

Gluser - a creepy stalker-type who replies to your comments or check-ins and won't leave you alone. Typically ends up on your block list in short order.*

Parroting - the act of checking-in to a topic with the same phrase everyone else is using, without knowing whether or not it will work, in the hopes that a sticker will pop.

Phrase Sticker - a sticker that requires you to check-in with a special keyword or phrase to get it to pop.

So where's the stickers, GetGlue?

Back on October 18 GetGlue further teased the Sex and the City 2 sticker via Twitter.  I figured this was a cool development (even though I'm still miffed over the non-apperance of the Jonah Hex sticker), and if I was able to earn the S&TC2 tag and they ever actually sent me all of my stickers (which is another rant for another post) then I could give it to my girlfriend.

So today rolls around, the date of the DVD release, and whaddya know - no sticker. Check-ins to the movie didn't make it pop. Check-ins to the show bore no fruit. Ditto for check-ins to the original movie. Nothing.

And yet they can find the time to pimp the upcoming Glee and Raising Hope stickers for tonight. Nice set of priorities there, guys; let's forget the sticker we've been teasing for months now and go ahead and pass out two brand new ones this evening.  This just makes me shake my head in disbelief.  They've got the PR department out working on new stuff when they haven't delivered the old stuff.

Guess we can continue to chalk that Sex and the City 2 sticker up on the same list as the Jonah Hex one - teased but never released.

Myth Busted! More Plausible stickers Confirmed!

Ok, so maybe that was one of the most awkward headlines ever, but it was the only way I could think of to squeeze in every bit of Mythbusters goodness.  GetGlue has further teased more Mythbusters stickers over on their blog.  The stickers mentioned are "limited time", so the best guess is that you'll only be able to earn these via check-in during show time this season.

No word on whether they'll all be available at once or if they'll be spaced out over the next few weeks, but given that they've promised us Mythbusters stickers all season it's a safe bet that they're going to be spread out. Don't forget to check-in tonight!

Pretty Little Liars stickers teased

GetGlue announced a full series of stickers for the upcoming ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars on their blog today.  Teaser pic:

Also mentioned in the blog post is that certain stickers from this series will be available for check-ins on Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, so it's a safe bet they won't go live until 12:00 AM on the day of the holiday. Two of the stickers pictured are already available, one for the trailer and one for 5-check-in fandom.  I'm betting that there will be one for the premiere, and that would leave the other four as possible phrase check-ins, probably of the "I love X!" variety.  Regardless, it'll be fun to see how well this show goes over as a "Desperate Housewives for the teen set"!
